At Berea, we take seriously the Scripture’s instructions to train up children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  We have trained teaches who come well-prepared each Sunday and who possess multiple years of teaching experience.  All lessons are Bible centered and aimed at helping children learn Scriptural truths and principles.  At the same time, Berea teachers also work hard in order to make lessons fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.  Current teens and adults who have grown-up at Berea say that the Sunday school teaching they received is one of the church’s particular strengths.

(Birth – 36 months)

Berea provides a nursery for all worship services.  Our workers are trained to provide a safe, loving, and secure environment for all children.  We provide both a secure and sanitary nursery in order to allow parents to give their full attention toward worshiping and serving Berea.

(Ages 3-8)

Children are with their parents during the worship services until the start of the preaching message.  In order to provide children ages 3-8 with a developmentally appropriate teaching ministry from God’s word, we offer a junior church service.

Berea provides periodic opportunities for our children to participate in both a hand bell choir as well as group performances (known as “Jesus Jammers”).  The opportunities are fun, children have an enjoyable experience, the ministry is a blessing to Sunday morning services, and our children learn spiritually through the participation.

(Ages 3-6th grade)

On Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Berea provides an AWANA program for children ages 3 through the 6th grade.  This program is dedicated to fun, games, Bible teaching, and Bible memorization that helps strengthen children’s Christian character development.

AWANA is a national children’s ministry and Berea holds a local AWANA club in the family life center on Wednesday evenings.  The time involves teaching from God’s word, an interactive and engaging game time, and dedicated time for memorizing various Bible verses.  Children are taught what different Bible passages and stories mean and leaders help children grow spiritually through their new understanding and application of the Bible.

Character development is an important facet of the AWANA ministry.  While leaders naturally desire for children to learn biblical truths each Wednesday evening, they also want the truths to make practical differences in the children’s lives.  Cultivating Christian character through making right behavioral choices, eventually adopting a biblical world-and-life view, and learning to think correctly about attitude-development are examples of how AWANA helps Berea children grow spiritually.

Mr. Shaun Phillips superintends Berea’s AWANA program.  With over 20 years experience in AWANA ministries he would enjoy answering any specific questions you might have and/or help you learn more about the program.  Feel free to contact Berea through email or phone and Shaun will connect further.
