GriefShare is a ministry to those grieving the death of a family member or friend. All group leaders have experienced grief and are successfully rebuilding their lives. They will walk with you on your journey to find hope for the future. There are two 13-week seminars offered yearly in January and August and two special one-day, two-hour events: Loss of a Spouse in June, and Surviving the Holidays in November.

Details and links to register for each event are covered below. If you have any questions, please call 937-342-3738.

The next session will be in November of 2024.

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas? Are you dreading these holidays, knowing that everything has changed and that happy memories from past years can’t be recreated?

Our Surviving the Holidays seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. You’ll learn:

  • How to deal with emotions you'll face during the holidays
  • What to do about traditions and other coming changes
  • Helpful tips for surviving social events
  • How to find hope for your future

About the event

Here’s what happens at a Surviving the Holidays seminar

A Surviving the Holidays event lasts for about two hours. You’ll be welcomed by warm, caring people who understand what you are going through and who want to help. During the seminar, you will:

  1. Watch a 35-minute video, filled with practical holiday survival tips and the real-life stories of people who have navigated the season after their loved one’s death.
  2. Hear other seminar attendees explain how they are dealing with the holidays.
  3. Have the opportunity to share how grief is affecting you. (No pressure—this is optional. We want you to feel comfortable.)
  4. Receive a personal copy of the GriefShare Holiday Survival Guide.

Why Attend a Grief Support Group?

The following video is a conversation in 2017 among the leaders of Berea Bible Church's GriefShare ministry to provide helpful advice for individuals who are in the first few weeks of grieving after experiencing the loss of a loved one.

How to Help Grieving Children

Discover practical ways to help your children deal with their grief

Caring for a grieving child can be overwhelming for you. This video, which was part of an earlier version of GriefShare, shares ways you can help your children and teens deal with their pain and confusion. You’ll hear simple, practical suggestions from grief experts, parents, and children who are sensitive to the difficulties grieving parents face.

The video is 48 minutes long. It is designed for parents and caregivers of children who are grieving. It is not intended for viewing by children.

To help you take notes, download and print this outline, which corresponds with the information presented in the video. Use these discussion questions to help you talk through the information you've learned with another adult, or answer the questions on your own.
